Heddon Publishing differs from standard publishing houses in that it is essentially a service for independent authors.
Our aim is simple: to make publishing possible for authors who wish to self-publish, in a professionally presented way.
The combination of a well-written and well-edited book will help to make sure your book stands out from the rest.
While publishing houses generally provide the services which Heddon charges for (editing, formatting, proofreading, publishing, administration) at no charge to the author, they also take a healthy slice out of the book sales (first time authors can often receive a very small percentage of book sales profits).
At Heddon, we charge for the services described but we keep a very small percentage of profits, ensuring that the author benefits from the far larger share.
The upfront costs for Heddon authors are at their own risk but we aim to keep them as reasonable and competitive as possible. We hope you will agree that the level of service, professionalism and expertise that you receive make the costs, and the risk, worthwhile.
We are also very keen to ensure that the work stays the property of the author, so that the copyright and control stays within your hands.
As any aspiring author will know, it is very hard to find an agent, never mind a publisher, who will take notice of you. At Heddon we will consider work on any subject matter, fact or fiction, as long as it is legal and ethical.
We will, however, require a sample of your work and a brief synopsis upon contact, to ensure that all publications released by Heddon Publishing are of a consistently high standard. This way, when you are published by Heddon, you can be sure that your work stands alongside other high quality publications and you can be proud to be a Heddon Publishing author.
