Born and raised in the Scottish Highlands, Ewen MacDonald has also been a resident of Inverness, the Isle of Skye, the Channel Islands and Leicester. He has a degree in history and has also studied film, photography and architecture.
Throughout his career, he has variously been an electrician, civil servant, trade unionist, general factotum, plongeur, and, for a brief spell, a gallerist. He currently works as a freelance writer and photographer. He is married with one son and lives in Cornwall.
The Painter is Ewen’s first novel.
